Current
legislation (The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005), states that all businesses must carry out a "suitable & sufficient" Fire Risk Assessment & ensure appropriate measures are put in place to safeguard the occupants of your premises.
In addition to this, on 1st October 2023, important changes to commercial fire safety legislation came into force. These changes affect a number of key aspects relating to fire safety arrangements in commercial premises and include a mandatory
requirement to document your fire risk assessment and
name the person within your organisation responsible for them.
This particular change applies to all commercial premises, so if you are a Responsible Person or Duty Holder for your business or organisation you will most likely need to undertake a formal review of your Fire Risk Assessment in the near future.
